If you've never booked a private water taxi in Auckland before, you probably have questions. How does it work? Where can we go? How much does it cost? What do we bring? We've been running these trips for 17 years and we've heard every question โ so here's everything, answered honestly.
We operate from the Viaduct Harbour, located at 105 Customs Street West, Auckland 1010. Specifically, we dock directly in front of O'Hagan's Bar in Market Square โ which makes us incredibly easy to find, and convenient to combine with coffee or a pre-departure drink at the Viaduct's many cafes.
The Viaduct is easily accessible from the CBD, and there's parking nearby. If you're coming from outside Auckland, the Ferry Building and Britomart transport hub are a 10-minute walk away.
Everywhere on the Hauraki Gulf and greater Auckland waterfront. Our most popular destinations include:
If you have a destination in mind that's not on this list โ ask. If it's on the water, there's a good chance we can get you there.
Up to 11 passengers per vessel, plus a reasonable amount of luggage, equipment, or freight. This makes us ideal for families, small groups, corporate teams, and commercial operators.
We price based on the trip โ destination, duration, and any specific requirements โ not per person. This means the per-person cost drops significantly as your group size increases. For groups of 6+, private water taxi pricing is often genuinely competitive with scheduled ferry fares, while offering a completely private and flexible service.
We give you an honest quote upfront with no hidden fees. Call or email us with your destination and group size and we'll come back quickly with pricing.
Pre-booking is strongly recommended โ especially for weekend trips, peak summer dates, and early morning or late evening departures. We're open 24/7 but the boats can fill up, particularly during summer.
For commercial and urgent trips, call us directly on 0800 890 007. We're often able to turn around bookings quickly when capacity allows.
Yes. Our vessels were purpose-built by the Royal New Zealand Navy to a British admiral barge design. They are maintained to a very high standard, regularly audited, and carry certified life vests, GPS navigation, and fire extinguishers as standard. We have operated safely for 17 years across all conditions.
In genuinely unsafe conditions (rare in the inner gulf), we will advise rescheduling. Your safety is never negotiated.
Yes โ this is one of our core commercial services. Goods and materials that are too large for ferries but don't require a barge. Island supplies, equipment, deliveries to waterfront properties or marine vessels. Contact us with the specifics and we'll advise on feasibility and pricing.
Auckland's inner harbour and gulf are generally well-sheltered. We operate year-round and handle typical Auckland weather comfortably. In the event of genuinely dangerous conditions (rare), we'll contact you to reschedule โ and we'll always err on the side of caution. We've been doing this long enough to know the difference between "a bit choppy" and "actually not safe."
Call or email us โ we'll answer any remaining questions and get you on the water.
