Auckland Water Taxis came into being 17 years ago when it became apparent that ferry timetables and their limitations were not doing justice to those keen to explore the magnificent islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Beyond leisure, there was a clear commercial need for on-demand transport of people and freight to points across the greater Auckland area and the Gulf.
We operate two purpose-built vessels from the Viaduct Harbour, directly in front of O'Hagan's in Market Square — the heart of Auckland's waterfront. From here, we service every island in the inner Hauraki Gulf and numerous destinations across greater Auckland.
Our vessels carry up to 11 passengers. A harbour cruise with us offers unique entertainment for families and visiting friends — and a genuine window into one of New Zealand's most spectacular natural environments.
We're proud to be a genuinely useful service for Auckland's wider community — not just a tourist attraction. Island residents depend on us for supplies and transport. Conservation volunteers rely on us for their restoration weekends. Commercial operators use us when ferries don't cut it.
